Business Psychology, put to work
Occupational psychology is for you if…
REAL PSYCHOLOGISTS — NEITHER ADVISORS NOR GENERIC EAP
Business psychology – known in academic and regulated contexts as occupational psychology, and internationally as industrial and organisational (I-O) psychology – applies evidence-based psychology to the problems organisations actually have: hiring the right people, developing leaders, improving team performance, retaining staff and protecting employee wellbeing. That is different from a general HR consultancy or an Employee Assistance Programme staffed by non-specialists.
Clement Mind is an occupational psychology consultancy built for start-ups and SMEs — running psychometric assessments for hiring, designing leadership development programmes, supporting culture and staff retention work, and providing proper psychological support to employees. Every consultant is an HCPC-registered practitioner psychologist, not a coach or generalist.

We are psychologists and if you ended up here, it means at the very least that you are interested in how people behave at work.
And, before telling you why we are – probably – the best option to help you out, we must tell you something…
Old John used to live with his wife in a house in a residential neighbourhood. The peculiarity was that their house was facing a parking bay for the adjacent houses.
One day, John grabbed his ladder and nailed a sign to the front of his house. There, you could read: “No reverse bay park, forward parking only”.
Neighbours talked about the incident for months, as they could not understand anything. But as John and Mary were nice people, neighbours tended to comply.
Years later, they decided to downsize. The house was too big for them with the children gone long ago. So they held a party in their garden to say a proper goodbye to their neighbours.
Along with the nibbles, one of the neighbours plucked up the courage: “John, why on earth did you put that sign years ago about how we must park?”. Silence. The whole party went quiet.
John replied: “Because our kitchen is behind that wall. And the kitchen fills with fumes when people park in reverse, particularly diesel engines”.
And what does all this have to do with business psychology? Everything.
John’s neighbours were intermittently complying with a guideline because they couldn’t understand its purpose.
Employees follow what they can understand and see as valuable.
Sometimes it is as simple as asking. Sometimes, more elaborate tools are required to capture the information, develop a plan and get the ball rolling. To pull in the right direction with the whole company.
We don't referee disputes.
We find what's behind the wall.
